A Single Dad Rushed Into a Burning Jet to Save the CEO — Then a Marine General Saw His Face and Went Pale
Chapter 13
Victoria eventually told Daniel she was pregnant.
She had been afraid.
Not because she didn’t want the child.
Because she knew what Daniel had lost.
She gave him the news at home.
He stared at her.
Then laughed.
Then cried.
Then hugged her.
“Are you okay?”
Victoria asked.
“Yes.”
“You sure?”
He nodded.
“I’ve never been more sure of anything.”
Lily found out the next morning.
She screamed.
“Seriously?”
Daniel laughed.
“Very seriously.”
She hugged Victoria.
“I’m going to be a big sister.”
Victoria smiled.
“Yes.”
Lily looked at Daniel.
“Are you scared?”
“Terrified.”
“Good.”
He laughed.
“Why good?”
“Because you worry too much.”
The pregnancy went smoothly.
Daniel became protective.
Too protective.
Victoria occasionally reminded him:
“I am CEO of a billion-dollar company.”
“And?”
“I can walk by myself.”
He smiled.
“Fine.”
She rolled her eyes.
Their wedding was small.
They married at a private lakeside property.
Lily stood beside them.
Jonathan attended.
A few close friends.
No media.
No politicians.
No business executives.
Just family.
During the vows, Victoria said:
“I spent most of my life believing power meant never needing anyone.”
She looked at Daniel.
“You taught me that being protected isn’t weakness.”
She smiled.
“It’s trust.”
Daniel answered:
“I spent most of my life believing survival meant staying alone.”
He took her hand.
“Then you taught me that coming home can be stronger than running away.”
Lily cried.
Everyone laughed when she tried to hide it.
After the ceremony, they sat together by the lake.
Victoria leaned against Daniel.
“Do you ever regret the airport?”
He laughed.
“Which part?”
“The burning jet.”
“Absolutely.”
She smiled.
“I don’t.”
“I know.”
She kissed him.
