They Forced Me to Take the Fall…Then a Billionaire Heir Chose Me!
Chapter 6
Victor ordered them away from the server.
Ava watched the security monitors.
More men were approaching.
Julian whispered:
“When I move, run.”
“Where?”
“Left corridor.”
Victor noticed them speaking.
“Don’t.”
Julian froze.
Victor smiled.
“You think you’re smarter than your brother.”
“I’m not.”
“Then why are you here?”
“Because you threatened her.”
Victor looked at Ava.
“That’s exactly why.”
He raised the gun.
Julian stepped between them.
Victor’s expression changed.
“You would actually die for her.”
Julian didn’t answer.
Ava stared at him.
They barely knew each other.
Yet he was standing between her and a loaded gun.
Victor laughed.
“Richard was right.”
“About what?”
“You care more about her than the company.”
Victor pulled out his phone.
“That makes you predictable.”
Ava suddenly remembered the server terminal.
She had left the portable device connected.
The system was still uploading.
If she could finish the transfer, they would have the evidence.
She slowly moved toward the computer.
Victor noticed.
“Stop.”
Ava froze.
Then the building’s fire alarm sounded.
Victor looked away.
Julian moved.
He knocked the gun aside.
Ava ran.
The server room erupted into chaos.
They escaped through the maintenance corridor.
The fire alarm had been triggered by Ava’s portable device.
It wasn’t enough to stop the attackers.
But it gave them seconds.
They reached the parking garage.
Julian started the car.
They sped away.
Ava looked at him.
“Who triggered the alarm?”
Julian shook his head.
“Not me.”
Her phone buzzed.
A message appeared.
YOU HAVE ONE HOUR.
Then another.
COME TO THE BLACKWOOD HOTEL.
Ava showed Julian.
He recognized the number.
“Richard.”
“Why would he invite us?”
“Because he doesn’t want to kill us yet.”
“Why?”
Julian looked at her.
“Because he still needs something.”
“What?”
“My signature.”
Ava understood.
Richard wanted Julian to approve the final transfer of Blackwood International.
Without Julian, the takeover couldn’t be completed.
“So we’re leverage.”
“Yes.”
They arrived at the hotel.
The ballroom was empty.
Richard stood at the center.
He looked almost identical to Julian.
Same dark hair.
Same sharp features.
But his expression was colder.
He smiled.
“Brother.”
Julian stepped forward.
“You framed her.”
Richard looked at Ava.
“I gave her an opportunity.”
“To go to prison?”
“To become useful.”
Ava stared.
Richard continued.
“Do you know why I chose you?”
Ava said nothing.
“Because nobody would believe you.”
He turned toward Julian.
“Until you came along.”
Julian clenched his fists.
Richard smiled.
“That’s the part I didn’t expect.”
Ava looked at Julian.
Richard noticed.
“You actually chose her.”
Julian answered:
“Yes.”
Richard’s smile disappeared.
“Then you’ve made this personal.”
He snapped his fingers.
The ballroom doors locked.
Ava heard a metallic click.
Richard looked at them.
“Now let’s see what you’re willing to sacrifice for each other.”
