The CEO’s Jet Broke Down Again — Her Assistant Whispered, “I Think She Just Wants the Mechanic Back”
Chapter 15
One year later, Ava stood beside the same jet wearing a simple white dress.
Mason was next to her in a dark suit.
They had chosen the airport hangar instead of a ballroom.
Lily was there.
Ava’s father sat in the front row.
The ceremony was small.
Private.
Real.
Before the vows began, Lily leaned toward Mason.
“Do you know how many times the jet broke down before Ava finally admitted she loved you?”
Mason smiled.
“Too many.”
“Seven.”
Ava overheard.
“It was five.”
Lily shook her head.
“Seven.”
Mason looked at Ava.
“Five?”
Ava shrugged.
“Maybe six.”
Everyone laughed.
Then Mason took her hands.
“I used to think fixing machines was about understanding what was wrong.”
He looked into her eyes.
“Sometimes it’s about understanding why something keeps trying to pull itself apart.”
Ava’s eyes filled with tears.
“And sometimes,” he continued, “you don’t fix it by replacing the broken part.”
“You stay.”
“You listen.”
“And you choose each other.”
Ava whispered,
“I choose you.”
He smiled.
“I choose you too.”
They kissed as applause filled the hangar.
Later, when the guests had gone, Ava and Mason stood alone beneath the jet.
She looked up at it.
“So…”
“So?”
“Do you think it’ll break down again?”
Mason grinned.
“Probably.”
Ava narrowed her eyes.
“Are you saying you sabotaged it?”
“Absolutely not.”
She laughed.
“Good.”
“Why?”
“Because I don’t need an excuse anymore.”
Mason looked at her.
“To call you?”
“To find you.”
He took her hand.
“You know where I am.”
Ava smiled.
“Yes.”
She leaned against him.
“Home.”
For the first time in her life, the CEO who owned buildings, companies, aircraft, and a global empire understood something money had never been able to buy.
Sometimes the person you spend months trying to replace is the one person you were never supposed to lose.
