Noah sat in silence.
“My father was one of them.”
Emma sat beside him.
“He changed sides.”
“But he still built part of it.”
“He tried to destroy it.”
Noah stared at the floor.
“I don’t know who he was.”
Emma placed a hand on his shoulder.
“Maybe both.”
They returned to the old farm.
The archive contained another recording.
Daniel Bennett’s voice.
“My son will hate me if he discovers this.”
Noah closed his eyes.
Daniel continued.
“I joined Horizon because I believed I could control it from within.”
He failed.
Then he met David Collins.
Together, they tried to expose it.

Noah whispered:

Emma nodded.
The recording continued.

Emma froze.
“Thomas?”
Daniel explained that Thomas had created Horizon’s original structure.
But later, he wanted out.
He helped the families escape.
Then disappeared.
Nobody knew where he went.
Emma asked:
“Where is Thomas?”
A location appeared.
The mountains.
A private cabin.
They drove there.
The cabin was empty.
But a man had recently lived there.
There were photographs.
Maps.
Documents.
And a note.

Emma looked at Noah.
“Who wrote that?”
He shook his head.
Then they heard a car.
A vehicle stopped outside.
Rachel stepped out.
Emma froze.
“You.”
Rachel smiled sadly.
“I knew you’d figure it out.”
Noah moved in front of Emma.
“Why were you watching us?”
Rachel looked at Lily.
“I was protecting her.”
“You kidnapped her.”
“I saved her.”
Emma stepped forward.
“From what?”
“From Horizon.”
Noah stared.
“You work for them.”
“I did.”
“Past tense?”
Rachel nodded.
“I defected.”
Emma didn’t know whether to believe her.
Rachel walked inside.
“Thomas is alive.”
“Where?”
“Here.”
She pointed toward a hidden passage beneath the cabin.
They followed.
Behind a steel door was a small room.
An old man sat beside a window.
Gray hair.
Thin face.
But unmistakable.
Thomas Crawford.
Emma stared.
“You’re alive.”
Thomas smiled.
“I’ve been waiting for you.”
She stepped closer.
“Why did you destroy my family?”
“I didn’t.”
“You created Horizon.”
“Yes.”
“And then?”
“I realized what it had become.”
He looked at Noah.
“Your father tried to stop me.”
Noah’s jaw tightened.
Thomas continued.
“Your parents saved more people than I ever did.”
Emma cried.
“Then why did you let us suffer?”
“Because if Horizon discovered you, they would kill you.”
“You could have trusted us.”
Thomas shook his head.
“I was wrong.”
He handed Emma a key.
“The final archive is under the old Crawford headquarters.”
“What’s inside?”
“Proof.”
“Against whom?”
“Everyone.”
Emma looked at Noah.
Thomas warned:
“If you open it, the network will come after you.”
Emma held the key.
“We’re already being hunted.”
Thomas smiled.
“Then perhaps you’re ready.”
