“I Have Dinner Plans This Friday” — The Obsessed Mafia Boss Snapped When His Accountant Said She Was Seeing Another Man

Chapter 5

Luca increased Mia’s security.

She hated it.

“I don’t need a bodyguard.”

“You do.”

“I don’t.”

“Mia.”

She looked at him.

“I won’t control your life.”

“But?”

“But I won’t pretend you’re safe when you’re not.”

She sighed.

A private security specialist named Anna accompanied her.

Mia accepted it reluctantly.

Meanwhile, the internal investigation continued.

They discovered Anthony had been receiving payments from Victor.

But Anthony wasn’t the mastermind.

He was only moving money.

The real architect was someone closer.

Luca’s uncle, Marco.

Marco had managed family investments for years.

He had access to everything.

Including the old authorization code.

Luca was furious.

“My uncle?”

Mia nodded.

“The transactions connect directly.”

He closed his eyes.

Marco had raised him after his father’s death.

Trusting him had been instinctive.

Now that trust was gone.

Luca confronted him privately.

Marco denied everything.

Then he smiled.

“You think you’re protecting your empire.”

“You are.”

“You’ve become soft.”

“Because of her?”

Marco looked at Mia.

Luca stepped forward.

“Don’t involve her.”

Marco laughed.

“That’s exactly your weakness.”

The confrontation ended without violence.

Luca returned to Mia.

“He’s dangerous.”

“So am I?”

He smiled.

“Not to me.”

That night, Mia finally admitted what she had been denying.

“I don’t know how I feel about you.”

Luca sat across from her.

“You don’t have to decide.”

“I think I like you.”

He smiled.

“I know.”

“Don’t look so pleased.”

“I’m trying.”

She laughed.

That was the first time they both relaxed.

They went to dinner.

No business.

No bodyguards at the table.

They talked.

Luca told her about his childhood.

His father.

His mother.

The expectations placed on him.

The moment he became head of the family.

Mia told him about her own struggles.

Her mother’s illness.

Her brother’s tuition.

The fear of losing financial stability.

Luca listened.

No interruption.

No judgment.

At the end of dinner, Mia said:

“You don’t feel like the man everyone describes.”

“Sometimes I am.”

She studied him.

“That’s what scares me.”

“I know.”

“Do you ever think you can leave it?”

He looked away.

“Maybe.”

“What would you do?”

“Own a quiet restaurant.”

She laughed.

“Seriously?”

“Yes.”

“Could you cook?”

“No.”

She laughed harder.

“Then you’re doomed.”

He smiled.

For a few hours, he wasn’t a mafia boss.

She wasn’t an accountant.

They were just two people.

Then Mia’s phone rang.

Anna.

Mia answered.

Her expression changed.

“What?”

She listened.

Then looked at Luca.

“Someone broke into my apartment.”

He stood immediately.

“Are you hurt?”

“No.”

“What was taken?”

“My files.”

“Which files?”

Mia froze.

“The audit.”

Luca’s face darkened.

Someone had stolen the evidence.

And now they knew exactly how close Mia was to exposing them.
