“I Have Dinner Plans This Friday” — The Obsessed Mafia Boss Snapped When His Accountant Said She Was Seeing Another Man

Chapter 2

Mia spent Friday morning pretending Luca’s reaction hadn’t bothered her.

She worked through payroll.

Verified invoices.

Reviewed tax documents.

Answered emails.

But every few minutes, she caught herself thinking about his expression.

He had been jealous.

There was no other explanation.

Mia had suspected Luca liked her for months.

He remembered details nobody else did.

He noticed when she skipped lunch.

He once sent a driver to pick her up during a storm without telling her.

He had quietly increased her salary after discovering she was sending money to her brother.

He never touched her.

Never crossed a physical line.

But there was always something in his eyes.

Something intense.

Something possessive.

Mia had ignored it because she had to.

Dating the man who signed your paycheck was dangerous.

Dating a mafia boss was worse.

Dating a mafia boss who was obsessed with you sounded like the beginning of a tragedy.

She wasn’t interested.

At least, that was what she kept telling herself.

At six that evening, she left the office.

She wore a simple black dress.

Nothing dramatic.

She met Daniel at a small Italian restaurant.

Daniel was kind.

He was a lawyer.

Funny.

Normal.

Exactly what Mia thought she wanted.

He pulled out her chair.

“How was work?”

“Long.”

“Still with the same mysterious employer?”

She smiled.

“Mysterious is one word.”

Daniel laughed.

“Should I be worried?”

“No.”

She hoped that was true.

They ordered dinner.

The evening was pleasant.

But Mia kept noticing the empty seat across the room.

Her mind wandered.

Luca.

His voice.

The way he’d said her name.

She felt guilty.

Daniel noticed.

“Everything okay?”

“Yes.”

“You don’t look convinced.”

She smiled.

“I’m just tired.”

Daniel reached across the table.

Mia moved her hand slightly.

Not because she disliked him.

Because she suddenly imagined Luca seeing it.

That realization frightened her.

Later, when Daniel walked her outside, he asked:

“Can I see you again?”

Mia smiled.

“Maybe.”

He leaned closer.

She stepped back.

“Sorry.”

He accepted it.

“No problem.”

She smiled.

“Goodnight.”

She got into her car.

The moment she was alone, her phone buzzed.

Luca.

Home?

Mia stared.

She hadn’t told him she was back.

She typed:

Almost.

His reply came immediately.

Call me.

She hesitated.

Then did.

He answered on the first ring.

“Are you home?”

“Almost.”

“Was dinner good?”

Mia sighed.

“Why do you care?”

Silence.

Then:

“Because I do.”

She leaned back.

“Luca…”

“I need to tell you something.”

“What?”

“I don’t like him.”

“You’ve already said that.”

“I’m serious.”

She laughed nervously.

“I know.”

“I don’t want you seeing him again.”

Mia became quiet.

“You don’t get to decide that.”

“I know.”

That surprised her.

Then he added:

“I’m asking.”

The anger in his voice had disappeared.

He sounded almost vulnerable.

Mia closed her eyes.

“Why?”

He took a long breath.

“Because when I think about you with someone else, I can’t think straight.”

Her heart skipped.

She hated that it affected her.

She should have ended the conversation.

Instead, she whispered:

“That’s not my responsibility.”

“I know.”

“Then what do you want from me?”

Another silence.

“Nothing tonight.”

She almost smiled.

“Goodnight, Luca.”

“Goodnight.”

She ended the call.

For several minutes, she sat in her driveway.

She realized something uncomfortable.

Daniel was safe.

Normal.

Easy.

Yet she was thinking about Luca.

The dangerous man who made her heart race with one sentence.

And that scared her more than Luca ever had.

Because she was beginning to understand that the real danger wasn’t his jealousy.

It was her attraction.
